Go the Eels! You did us proud!

Despite losing to the Melbourne Storm at the 2009 Grand Final (23 to 16), our Mighty Parramatta Eels took our imaginations from an outside chance only a few months ago to the possibilty of winning the Grand Final after 23 years of waiting.

Since 1986, Parramatta Eels fans have been patiently waiting, hoping, cheering on our team! In 2001, we were excited to be in the Grand Final. In 2009, we were living our dream! And despite losing, thousands upon thousands of supporters showed their love, loyalty and appreciation for our Parramatta Eels at a public street parade in Parramatta in their honour.

People near and far came to Parramatta! A sea of blue and gold rippled across like the sun flickering over the ocean surface. Chants of “Parra! Parra! Parra!” reverberated throughout the Parramatta CBD. Upon arrival, the 33 man Parramatta Eels team humbly stood before their fans.

It was obvious they did not feel they deserved the attention and affection. But what they haven’t yet realised is that the Parramatta Eels have instilled so much faith now and in anticipation of next year’s 2010 Grand Final.

2010 now presents the most exciting season for Parramatta Eels. Go the Eels! You did us proud! Make us proud again!
