International Design Competition Launched

Parramatta has embarked on yet another major aspiration to transform one of its undercapitalised sites to one of Australia’s most celebrated river foreshore destinations.

Albeit locally known as the Lennox Bridge car park, this site is 2Ha on the edge of the Parramatta Central Business District along its river frontage. It sits centrally between our Riverside Theatres and our famous Church Street eateries.

Searching for the best ideas from Australia and around the world, we are offering:

(a) a Design Award of $50,000 for the best overall presentation of a coherent and potentially deliverable concept
(b) an Arts Award of $10,000 for the best artistic response
(c) a Student Award of $5,000 for the best student entry 25 years or under undertaking tertiary studies
(d) a Commendation of $5,000 to be awarded at the Jury’s discretion

By submitting your design idea(s), in addition to the rewards, you will also be contributing to the City of Parramatta’s proposed redevelopment plans and reinforcing its place as Sydney’s competing central business district.

Submissions will be limited to one A1 page and the competition closes on Wednesday 11 May 2011 at 12 noon.
