50 out of 111 traffic fines overturned

Parramatta council’s new adjudication panel has overturned nearly half of all parking fines submitted, most without any evidence.

Documents obtained by The Sun under Right to Information legislation show since the review board first sat on October 27 last year, 111 people have had their parking fines reviewed.

Cautions were issued to 52 of them, which means the fine was dropped but they were sent letters of warning that their next offence would not be taken so lightly.

Rail link could take 6000 off Parra's roads

The Parramatta to Epping rail link could take up to 6000 commuters to Parramatta off the roads every day.

Census statistics show nearly 7 per cent of the workforce commuting to Parramatta comes from Hornsby and Ryde, which would be provided with direct rail links to Parramatta via the new line.

Free Loop promise, amid cries of a `leak'

FROM March 12, a new NSW Government-funded free bus shuttle service around Parramatta CBD will replace the council’s Loop bus service.

The service will travel on much the same route around the CBD but will be extended to seven days a week.

The existing blue Loop buses will be ``done over’’ in government green, although the council will still run the service.

Keneally signs $2.1b federal deal for Parramatta-Epping Rail Link

News Report: New South Wales Premier, Kristina Keneally has signed an agreement with the Federal Government providing $2.1 billion to build the Epping to Parramatta rail link. Federal Infrastructure Minister Anthony Albanese says the project represents a big step toward ensuring that Parramatta will become Sydney's second CBD. Ms Keneally says the only threat to the project proceeding is the potential election of an O'Farrell Government.

Stop the slug of the Parking Space Levy

PARRAMATTA businesses are the only ones in western Sydney forking out thousands of dollars a year in parking levies while the whole state is sharing in the benefits.

Charities, sports goods stores, couriers and other businesses that need parking spaces are slugged the $710 fee for each car space they either own or rent from a landlord.
