Parramatta Bishop Applauds Parramatta Council |

Most Australians are Christians and therefore celebrate Easter for what it is – the solemn commemoration of the death and resurrection of Our Lord, the anniversary of the salvation of humanity, the beginning of the Church, the cause of hope for our world, said Bishop Anthony Fisher OP, Bishop of Parramatta.
The bishop said it is “great news” that Parramatta City Council is willing to recognise the reason for “the Easter holidays”. The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported religious banners featuring crucifixes were put up across Sydney’s west by Parramatta City Council who have grown “tired of political correctness”. |

Parrramatta 'ignored' by Federal Government |

Deputy Lord Mayor Chiang Lim has accused the Federal Government of ignoring Parramatta’s “growing pains” in its State of Australian Cities 2010 report.
The 161-page Infrastructure Australia report is intended to provide a national snapshot of 17 cities with populations of more than 100,000 but fails to include Parramatta. |

Parramatta will not have a popularly-elected mayor any time soon after councillors knocked the idea firmly on the head at Monday night’s council meeting.
The rejection was a major blow to Lord Mayor Paul Garrard who believes Parramatta needs a mayor elected by the people for a four-year term, rather than elected by councillors every year. |
