Thank you Lord Mayor. I too acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, but I also break with tradition that I acknowledge the successive waves of hardworking migrants who over the last two centuries, and with our Aboriginal forebears, have helped to make this island continent a great and respected nation and our home. It is important for us to remember this, because most of you I can see have come from lands both far and near, and our society gives you tribute for your many many years of contribution not only to your original homeland, but more importantly now in this home we call
And especially as we celebrate one of our most important celebrations, Christmas, the birth of Christ, we remember Him and His love of and of sharing with one another. I am extremely grateful to this Lord Mayor that he has expanded the annual Seniors Christmas Party to the five wards, thereby bringing the Seniors Christmas Party even closer to our senior members of our community. It really makes you think why we never did this sooner! So, may I extend to you my personal thanks and warm wishes during this Christmas season. May you share this spirit of Christmas with your family and loved ones. May you be prayerful and safe during the Christmas holidays. And I look forward to seeing you all in the new year. Thank you.
