It is my privilege to introduce the Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP,
The son of Bruce and Coral Turnbull, husband to Lucy Turnbull, father to Alex and Daisy, Malcolm grew up from humble beginnings but not without determination from a very young age. From Vaucluse Public School, to Sydney Grammar, to Sydney University studying law and arts, he then continued at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. His Australian career quickly began as a political journalist at The Nation Review, Radio 2SM, and Channel 9 covering state politics. His career continued as the General Counsel for the Packer empire’s Consolidated Press Holdings. Malcolm would never be considered as a shrinking violet especially after he successfully defeated the British Government in their attempts to suppress the memoirs of a former MI5 agent. His golden touch continued as managing director of Goldman Sachs, and chairman of OzEmail, with even more successful corporate interests too many to mention. Leading up to the year 2000, Malcolm Turnbull was the face of the Australian Republican Movement. Yet despite the unsuccessful referendum campaign, Malcolm still draws to himself loyalty from many Australians. In 2004, Malcolm re-wrote the book on how to really win a preselection with the mother-of-all branch and supporter base expansion. In 2006, he was elevated by the former Prime Minister John Howard and assumed responsibility for water to address the problem of drought in Australia. He was subsequently appointed the Federal Environment Minister. To date and without parallel, Malcolm Turnbull is Australia’s most commercially successful and richest parliamentarian. Chinese people like that. Being rich that is. So ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome to the stage, Australia’s alternative Prime Minister, born in the year of the horse, the stallion from Wentworth, the Hon Malcolm Turnbull.
