After consultation, Parramatta City Councillors unanimously approved on 13 December 2010 the final report for the creation of “Eels Place” by renaming a small part of Grose Street, west of O’Connell Street, Parramatta. This was first initiated by the then Deputy Lord Mayor Chiang Lim on 27 September 2010. |

All except one Parramatta Councillors abandon saving Richie Benaud's childhood home |

Without even a seconder, former Deputy Lord Mayor Chiang Lim was unable to receive support from his fellow Parramatta Councillors to help save Richie Benaud’s childhood home.
“For Parramatta Councillors to say on the one hand that they want to protect local heritage, then abandon any possibility of saving Richie Benaud’s childhood home when the going gets tough, this is utterly disappointing,” said Clr Lim. |

Future Regulation of Places of Worship in Residential Zones |

MEDIA RELEASE - 18 OCTOBER 2010
Parramatta City Councillors voted 9-to-5 to transfer all existing Places of Worship to the SP1 Special Zone in order to preserve the rights of faith communities, while also achieving harmony in the residential neighbourhoods. This regulatory practice used to exist before the NSW State Government’s current planning template which obliged all NSW local councils to allow Places of Worship in low density neighbourhoods without any limits on their size. |

Ban on Brothels and sex related services - Another NSW first in Parramatta |

MEDIA RELEASE - 18 OCTOBER 2010
With a vote of 9-to-5, a majority of Parramatta City Councillors voted to ban all brothels and sex related services as an acceptable land use, making Parramatta the first community in the State of New South Wales to defy the NSW State Government’s planning requirements.
Under the NSW Government’s new planning regulations template imposed on all NSW local Councils, all NSW local councils are required to include brothels and sex related services in their local planning regulations. |

NSW's race for Electric Vehicle Infrastructure |

MEDIA RELEASE - 29 SEPTEMBER 2010
Upon a unanimous vote, Deputy Lord Mayor Chiang Lim gets Parramatta’s nod to begin dialogue with electric vehicle infrastructure providers for Western Sydney and New South Wales.
“We’re not talking about hybrids that still rely on petrol. The electric car is the future. They are inevitable and production electric vehicles have already begun to arrive on Australian shores. NSW needs to work quickly to prepare for the mass adoption of electric vehicles. We need to collaborate with electric vehicle infrastructure providers to solve questions such as: Where and how do we re-charge them? How will our homes and workplaces be built or retrofitted to be electric car ready? How and where will we re-charge them while we’re on the road?” said Clr Lim.
