With Christmas only four weeks away, Parramatta City Council is planning ahead for next year’s and future Christmases by agreeing to initiate an annual Christmas Lights Competition.
“Christmas is a very special Christian season which many Australians celebrate,” said Clr Chiang Lim.
This proposed annual competition rewards the residents, businesses and nominators where the Christmas lights creations are judged on the basis of creativity, innovation, animation, and alignment to Christmas.
During the consideration of an extension of the operating lease of the Lake Parramatta Reserve Kiosk, the new majority on Parramatta City Council changed how its under-performing assets will be conducted in the future.
"We are most grateful to the current operators of the kiosk who took it from a basket-case to a decent cafe. But that's not enough in the 21st century for a return to Council of $6500 per year. That's about $125 rent per week for the jewel of
Parramatta. That's even cheaper than most residential rental properties in
Parramatta!" said Liberal Councillor Chiang Lim.
