Councillor collects jackpot in hunt for a new position

A Parramatta councillor has struck the jackpot and scored the top job on a newsagency and lottery association. Liberal councillor Chiang Lim has been appointed chief executive of the Newsagents Association of NSW and ACT. The association is the industry body representing newsagencies and lottery agents.

A VIRTUAL marketplace might soon leave the pages of sci-fi books and open in Parramatta. Parramatta is part of the consortium that received a grant of $168,000 to develop mobile digital applications for the retail and tourism sectors.

Panel an uncontested winner

Parramatta City Council’s Adjudication Panel has helped hundreds of motorists to contest their parking fines since its inception in November 2010. Out of the 276 motorists that met with the panel, 143 were issued with a caution but did not have to pay their fines.
