On Monday, 21 June 2010, the 2010 debate of Prime Minister Rudd and Opposition Leader Tony Abbott was held and broadcast by the Internet. This debate was organised by the Australian Christian Lobby.

Questions canvassed included Social Justice for Indigenous people, Prayer in Parliament, Refugees, Marriage, Chaplaincy, Sexualisation of Children, Climate Change and Negotiating with minor parties/independents in the Senate.

THE transport needs of Greater Western Sydney were laid on the table at a transport forum organised by Parramatta Lord Mayor Paul Garrard on Friday.

Transport Minister John Robertson, Opposition transport spokeswoman Gladys Berejiklian, transport experts and community leaders addressed an audience of local government and community representatives at the Sebel Parramatta.

Blitz cleans up Parramatta

PARRAMATTA Council’s illegal dumping blitz has been hailed a success, with a drastic reduction in rubbish strewn in the streets.

The council ratified its draft illegal dumping policy on Monday night after councillors agreed that a proactive approach to stamping out illegal dumping had worked.

The council’s approach involved a number of strategies including setting up a Dob in a Dumper number, making body corporates responsible for rubbish dumped outside their buildings and installing cameras in hot spots.

Ashfield copies Parramatta’s appeals panel for parking fine disputes

DRIVERS stung by an unfair parking fine in Ashfield could soon have a new way to fight back.

Ashfield Council is considering establishing an appeals panel where people could challenge parking infringement notices issued by its rangers. Ashfield mayor Ted Cassidy is behind the proposal, which was to be discussed by councillors at Tuesday night’s council meeting.
