In one of my other roles as an elected member of the management committee (board) of the Chinese Australian Forum (CAF), the Chinese Australian Forum celebrated Chinese New Year and the Year of the Ox with none other than the Federal Opposition Leader, the Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP.
With almost a new record in sales of tickets, the Chinese Australian Forum again held one the most important Chinese annual events in Sydney.
Parramatta has one of the most enjoyable outdoor dining experiences in
Australia. But nothing spoils an evening than hotted up cars and inconsiderate drivers driving past only centimeters away with excessive and obnoxious noise blasted onto diners.
A “trial” of sorts has been occurring for over the last eleven months where Parramatta Council’s rangers were placed in hot spots booking these cars and drivers.
SYDNEY, 12 Dec 2008 (AAP) - A new housing code, aimed at reducing approval times for new homes and extensions from several months to 10 days or less, will provide a much needed boost to the NSW housing industry, the state government says.
Planning Minister Kristina Keneally said the new code would apply to lots over 450 square metres, where a new single or two-storey detached house was planned.
With Christmas only four weeks away, Parramatta City Council is planning ahead for next year’s and future Christmases by agreeing to initiate an annual Christmas Lights Competition.
“Christmas is a very special Christian season which many Australians celebrate,” said Clr Chiang Lim.
This proposed annual competition rewards the residents, businesses and nominators where the Christmas lights creations are judged on the basis of creativity, innovation, animation, and alignment to Christmas.
During the consideration of an extension of the operating lease of the Lake Parramatta Reserve Kiosk, the new majority on Parramatta City Council changed how its under-performing assets will be conducted in the future.
"We are most grateful to the current operators of the kiosk who took it from a basket-case to a decent cafe. But that's not enough in the 21st century for a return to Council of $6500 per year. That's about $125 rent per week for the jewel of
Parramatta. That's even cheaper than most residential rental properties in
Parramatta!" said Liberal Councillor Chiang Lim.
