On 5 March 2010, the Federal Government published the State of Australian Cities 2010 Report. The Report draws together existing data and information across a range of economic, social and environmental parameters to provide a national snapshot of the 17 Australian cities with populations over 100,000 at the 2006 Census, and discusses the vision of the Rudd Government in terms of meeting the needs of Australians in terms of infrastructure.

The strong bond goes back to World War I when Australian light horsemen liberated the desert city from the Turks in 1917.

FORGET the Opera House or Sydney Harbour Bridge - tourists need to see where it all began, according to Parramatta State Labor MP Tanya Gadiel as she launched the Discover Parramatta guidebooks on Thursday night.

The launch of the visitors' guide and dining guide followed a presentation of Parramatta Council's draft tourism strategy. It outlined a series of recommendations to be considered for implementation over the next five years.

Ouch! Garrard under attack

LORD Mayor Paul Garrard was lambasted by fellow councillors on Monday night for pushing ahead with Parramatta having a popularly elected mayor without their input.

Cr Garrard came under heavy fire as he presented the findings of a residents’ survey which showed that 64 per cent of respondents wanted to have a mayor elected by the people for four years rather than each year by councillors.
