Keneally signs $2.1b federal deal for Parramatta-Epping Rail Link

News Report: New South Wales Premier, Kristina Keneally has signed an agreement with the Federal Government providing $2.1 billion to build the Epping to Parramatta rail link. Federal Infrastructure Minister Anthony Albanese says the project represents a big step toward ensuring that Parramatta will become Sydney's second CBD. Ms Keneally says the only threat to the project proceeding is the potential election of an O'Farrell Government.

Stop the slug of the Parking Space Levy

PARRAMATTA businesses are the only ones in western Sydney forking out thousands of dollars a year in parking levies while the whole state is sharing in the benefits.

Charities, sports goods stores, couriers and other businesses that need parking spaces are slugged the $710 fee for each car space they either own or rent from a landlord.

Labor and Liberals launch shuttle bus promises in Parramatta

As the NSW Opposition promised to fund Parramatta’s free shuttle bus service the Loop yesterday, the Government was planning to roll out its new green shuttle service in the city today.

Yesterday, as Opposition transport spokeswoman Gladys Berejiklian came to town with her promise to fund the Loop service if elected to government on March 26, the Advertiser was unaware that the Government had already presented its plan for a free shuttle service for the city to councillors in a confidential council meeting on Monday night.

Although already having demolished Richie Benaud’s childhood family home in January 2011, Parramatta City Council considered on 14 February 2011 the proposal from the developer to construct a detached 2 storey dual occupancy development with Torrens title subdivision.

After consultation, Parramatta City Councillors unanimously approved on 13 December 2010 the final report for the creation of “Eels Place” by renaming a small part of Grose Street, west of O’Connell Street, Parramatta. This was first initiated by the then Deputy Lord Mayor Chiang Lim on 27 September 2010.
