Malcolm Turnbull at 2009 Chinese Australian Forum Chinese New Year Dinnner

In one of my other roles as an elected member of the management committee (board) of the Chinese Australian Forum (CAF), the Chinese Australian Forum celebrated Chinese New Year and the Year of the Ox with none other than the Federal Opposition Leader, the Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP.

With almost a new record in sales of tickets, the Chinese Australian Forum again held one the most important Chinese annual events in Sydney.

About the Chinese Australian Forum:

Chinese Australian ForumThe Chinese Australian Forum (CAF) is Australia’s most highly regarded advocacy organisation for Chinese-Australians.

Since its inception in 1985 in response to the deterioration in inter-racial relationship, the CAF has fought to eliminate racism while raising political awareness within the Chinese-Australian community.

It has since evolved and expanded its role to include involvement in broader social and political issues affecting the democratic process in Australia. It remains the only Chinese-Australian organisation in NSW whose main activity is to engage its members and supporters in the political process in our country.

Previous CAF Annual Dinners' special guest speakers have included the Hon Wayne Swan MP, the Hon Dr Brendan Nelson MP, the Hon Kim Beazley MP, Sir William Deane, the Hon John Howard MP, the Hon Paul Keating MP, the Hon Peter Costello MP, the Hon Bob Carr MP, John Brogden MP, and the Hon Bob Hawke MP.

Corporate sponsors for previous CAF Annual Dinners included Chinatown Promotions & Public Relations, the Commonwealth Bank, Dior, the Gilt Jewellery, Global Mortgages Pty Ltd, Handpicked Wines, the Lamart College of Technology, Leapfrog Group, Marigold Chinese Restaurant, Multillon Media, National Australia Bank, Nudie Juice, Raymond's Jewellery, Tarocash and Versace.
